Calverton Chargers 2025 Recap

The Calverton Chargers wrapped up an exciting and successful 2025 season with a strong 4-1 record, finishing 3rd out of 6 teams at Divisionals! This summer, we were proud to have 87 swimmers on the team.

At the Divisional meet, 34 Chargers competed, and six individuals along with two relay teams qualified for the All-Star Meet! In addition, five of our swimmers were selected to compete in the Coaches Invitational Long Course Meet, recognizing them as some of the top 8 fastest swimmers in their stroke across the Montgomery County Swim League.

A huge thank you goes to Head Coach Tom Donley for leading another fantastic season. We also appreciate the hard work of our swim board members and team reps: Tiffany Kenworthy, Chris Reagan, Chris Hughes, Becca Holden, Leigh Tinsley, Ellen Wellen, Nikki Milcetich, and Stephanie Lee. And of course, a big shout-out to our many dedicated parent volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you!

This year, we were lucky to have four incredible Junior Coaches: Courtney Albright, Trevor Donley, Makayla McKnight, and Jean Nesta. In addition to being team members themselves, they helped guide practices and support swimmers throughout the season.

We welcomed 11 pre-team swimmers and 16 new team members, including 9 first-year families. We’re thrilled to see the team grow!

But swim team is about more than just racing, it’s about community. This season featured exciting social events including pep rallies, a pasta dinner, a movie outing, and our first annual Swimathon. The Swimathon alone raised over $5,000, with our swimmers completing more than 2,200 laps and we capped it off with a delicious pancake breakfast! These events helped teammates and families connect and create lasting memories beyond the pool deck.

We also celebrated the graduation of three amazing Chargers: Amara Shah, Gabriel Vasquez, and Joshua Lopez. We’ll miss them greatly and wish them all the best in their next chapter. Thank you for being such an important part of the team over the years!
